11812013 1 p.m.

Kathryn “Kit” Dawsey can be seen in a Berry College video on the college's website helping out on an alumni work day this past spring.

Also listed on the website as those participating are her two daughters, Patricia and Kelsey and a 91-year-old man police say was being financially exploited by the women.

Kit Dawsey, 54, Patricia Dawsey, 22 and 19-year-old Kelsy Dawsey are charged with exploitation of a disabled adult. Kit Dawsey is also charged with one count of theft by taking and two counts of theft by conversion.

According to the GBI, at least some of the money taken from the elderly man was used to pay the younger womens’ tuition at Berry College.

A news release from the GBI said Kit Dawsey befriended the victim and convinced him to make her his power of attorney. Dawsey began using the man’s money during the first part of 2013 for her and her family’s personal gain.

A court order was issued in September 2013 restricting Dawsey from using the victim’s accounts but Dawsey continued to do so.

The three live in Williamson, which is in Pike County. Their victim lives in Buena Vista, which is located in Marion County. The women are being housed in the Marion County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing.  When asked if there were other victims, GBI Special Agent in Charge Danny Jackson told WRGA News he was not familiar with reports of other victims.
