The Booth Western Art Museum has a variety of events planned for February and March including one of two signature events – the 7th Annual Southeastern Cowboy Gathering. On February 3, Art for Lunch, in honor of Black History Month, will feature an overview of the artwork in the Booth collection featuring African American subjects. On February 18, Artist Ernest Varner will review images from his special exhibition at the Booth, The Longest Mile, which portrays the history of African Americans in the West including the heroic efforts of the Buffalo Soldiers. Save the dates – March 11-14, for the 7th Annual Southeastern Cowboy Gathering. Join Featured Artist Nelson Boren and Featured Entertainer Red Steagall at this four-day celebration of the West. The event will also include the Georgia Youth Poetry Contest finals, children’s activities; banjo, mandolin, guitar and fiddle contests; chuck wagon and Dutch oven cooking contests, poetry writing workshops, cowboy church and much more.
