He also wrote a tennis column for THE SPORTING NEWS and has been the Georgia correspondent for SPORTS ILLUSTRATED magazine since 1974..

Arey’s sports background shows that he has owned his own Sports Public Relations agency, was an Associate Athletics Director at Georgia Tech, a senior vice-president for Burson-Marsteller (largest PR firm in the country), and worked with World Championship of Tennis and Lamar Hunt.

He now resides in lovely downtown Armuchee and does 15 daily sports commentaries a week for WRGA-AM, and co-hosts a two-hour sports talk show. His daily commentaries also appear on HOMETOWN HEADLINES, an internet newsletter.

Arey grew up in North Carolina and attended both the University of North Carolina and the University of Georgia, getting his degree from Georgia. He is married to the former Peg Pyron and they have three sons.
