Neelley Case to Be Re-Told by Investigations Discovery Network

If ever a case was meant for perpetuity on film, it was the Judith and Alvin Neelley case in 1982  which played out over NW Ga, NE Ala and Tennessee.  The Neeleys were involved in the murders of Janice Chatman in Georgia and teenager Lisa Anne Millican in Alabama.   Both were abducted in Rome .  Alvin Neelley died in a Ga prison for his role in the Chatman crime, while Judith Neelley continues to serve a life sentence in Alabama for the Millican murder.  She was originally sentenced to die, but had her sentenced reduced to life by Alabama Governor Fob James in January of 1999.  A spokesperson for M2 Pictures, a production company contracted with the Investigations Discovery network has confirmed that they are working on the story for the small screen and that crews would be in Rome at some point in the future to talk with those who were familiar with the cases that had Romans almost afraid to go out of their homes for several weeks.

Garmon Draws 13 Months From Federal Judge

With his wife sobbing softly, former Bartow County Sheriff’s Dept. Captain Brent Garmon was sentenced to 13 months in federal prison for admitting to taking more than $80,400 from  a seized cash account that he controlled as former head of the Bartow Narcotics Task Force.  Judge Robert Vining will allow Garmon to commit himself voluntarily after getting family affairs in order.  The judge told Garmon that he received a month more than the government had recommended because he had violated the public trust.  Theodore Brennnan, Garmon’s new boss at a firm in Cartersville was the only person to testify during the sentencing hearing and said that Garmon had been a great asset to his company and would have a job when he got out of prison.
